In my case, I had an old 3 channel mixer that I wanted to run a turntable into and use the mixer as a headphone amplifier. The only hitch was that for some reason I could not adjust the voiume with this set up. Once I received the 3.5mm In Line Volume Control Adapter, I was able to get the headphone volume down to a comfortable level. It's a great, simple fix. I ordered another one for a similar application.

I put this between headphones and a 50ft extension cable. Electrically it works well. Mechanically it is the weak link in this arrangement. It has poor strain relief.

We use this in the house with our XM Radios -- these radios have no usable volume settings when using headphones. This inline control does the trick, but we wear them out every couple of years. Radio Shack used to sell them, but, no more. They don't even understand what it is that I need when I call them. (Neither do the search engines, for that matter.) You folks are, apparently, the only ones on Planet Earth selling these! Thanks so much!

The In-Line Volume Control works about average in volume. This item was used to increase volume out of the phone jack on my Samsung TV. Due to either the TV audio (tried all the audio TV settings) or the On Demand downloads from Spectrum (very low or no volume on selective programs. I will be searching for a headphone amplifier now.

I'm using it with my C. Crane SWP Radio and their Buds-Pro In-Ear Earbuds. The radio jumps from soft to loud volume when I press the volume control but with your In-Line Volume Control I can smoothly adjust to any volume I want. Also the knob is where I can reach it when I wear the radio around my waist in a belly bag. It's great: protects my hearing and saves time in not having to reach for the volume control on the radio when it's inside the bag. Love it.

I found the volume from audio output on my TV was much too loud so I was delighted to find an excellent and inexpensive fix with this in line volume control. I’m very happy with this product and was so glad I ordered 2 as I already have a use for the second one.

Product arrived promptly. I use it so that I have a volume control attached to my
headphone cable. This allows me to avoid fumbling around with the device while adjusting volume. I use Westone 4 earbuds and Cowon Plenue 2 music players. The player, ear buds and volume control all work well with each other.

I was hoping this item would be a little better made. I've sourced the same item for the same use previously and they don't last long at all due to low quality construction/elements. You'd think someone would make a sturdier version of the same or similar item. It works and that's good until it doesn't. I order more than one since there basically disposable.

There's a couple of design flaws.
One: The circuit is wired in reverse. This is a major issue. The input impedance when the volume is turned all the way down is effectively 0. This means that as the volume is lowered, the source starts to overdrive the output, begins to clip, and sounds awful. The clipping gets worse the farther you turn down the volume. This was easy to fix with a soldering iron, swapping the male and female cables. This was an identical problem with all 3 I ordered. It doesn't seem limited to this batch, as I also later acquired different cables with the same volume control on them, and they too were wired backwards.
Two: The volume pot is linear, not logarithmic, meaning that it reduces the volume slowly at first, then drops off suddenly at the bottom. Human perception of volume is logarithmic, so usually volume pots have the opposite curve to compensate, or a couple of resistors tacked in to approximate the curve.
It still did what I wanted it to do after modifications, so 2 stars. Note: These are wired correctly to lower the level of a line input, so if that's your application, you're set. Potentially useful for hooking up a line level source to a microphone input, for example.

This adapter introduced a high level hum into the audio signal and I won't be using it. Always received good quality products from mycablemart and it was a surprise that this poorly engineered adapter was part of the product mix.
