I have an 8.5 foot opaque video screen that I use to rear project my Christmas videos from inside my house through a window. My computer runs the Christmas show. I use the VGA port on the on the computer to connect to the HDMI port on the projector. The audio port is connected to my FM transmitter so folks parked in front of my house can tune there car radios to the posted frequency and listen to the Christmas music which is synced to the outside lights and video. The setup works great. I do have outdoor speakers at the house that are on low volume for people that want to wander close to the house rather than blasting out the neighborhood.

These adapters are great. With so many laptops not having VGA anymore, and older projectors not having HDMI, they fit the bill perfectly. I have one with the projector and one in my laptop bag.

The item did not work - when troubleshooting all other items worked (Vga cable, other hdmi cords, inputs, etc.) and we determined this item to be faulty, we will be asking for a refund.

This converter does NOT work for connecting Raspberry Pi model B HDMI output to ViewSonic VA702b VGA monitor.
However, the converter works very well for connecting a Sony VAIO laptop HDMI output to that same monitor.
There are a number of converters that do not work well with Raspberry Pi and some that do. Apparently there are deficiencies in both the Pi and some converters.
