Note: USB and Firewire technologies are NOT compatible with each other. If you need to connect a Firewire device to your computer, your computer must have a 4 or 6pin Firewire/1394 port. If you do NOT have such a port, you can install a Firewire card (available HERE) allowing for such connectivity. There is no such device as a USB to Firewire (or Firewire to USB) adapter or converter.
Firewire cables (also known as iLink, and IEEE cables) are primarily used in the marketplace to connect Digital Video Cameras and Hard Drives to PC's. A typical firewire/IEEE port at the PC end is the "6 pin" variety. A typical firewire port found on a Digital Video Camera is a "4 pin" variety.
