This "combo cable" allows a signal transmitted in EITHER HDMI or DVI-D (digital only) to be displayed in EITHER HDMI or DVI-D (digital only). DVI-D and HDMI share the same video digital encoding and are thus compatible without any electronic conversion. Because DVI-D ONLY supports video, this combo cable will NOT provide for the audio and must be provided using a different (additional) cable if needed.
