Buying Cables
Buying cables in today's world of "DVI, HDMI, DVI-I, DVI-D, Component
Video" can be very confusing. While it would be nice to have a
simply guide to buying all kinds of cables, this is simply not possible.
Please contact us regarding
your planned cable purchase if you need assistance in matching up the
correct cables with your TV, receiver, satellite, or other system.
We have a library of reference materials that allows us to properly
cross-reference most electronic appliances.
Why is there such a huge price difference between
a 5M/16.3ft cable, and say a 8M/26.2ft HDMI cable? The internal wire gauge (AWG) changes to a much thicker wire starting
at the 8M length to ensure that the cable meets or exceeds HDMI 1.2
specifications - and to absolutely minimize any loss of signal.
Along with a wire gauge change is the shielding and outer covering.
What kind of cable do I need for my:
Dish Network 411/ViP211 Receiver?(HDMI) Click
HERE for details. If your HDTV is also HDMI, then you will
use an HDMI to HDMI cable.
If your HDTV is DVI, then you will use a
DVI-HDMI cable
solution.
Dish Network ViP622 Receiver?(HDMI) Click
HERE for details. If your HDTV is also HDMI, then you will
use an HDMI to HDMI cable.
If your HDTV is DVI, then you will use a
DVI-HDMI cable
solution.
Dish Network 811 Receiver?
(DVI) Click
HERE for details, or
here for the picture of the back of your 811 receiver.
Because the Dish Network receiver only supports DVI (which can only
transport a digital PICTURE - no audio), you will need a cable with
one of the ends to be DVI. Depending on the connection to your
HDTV or home theatre, the other end of your cable will also be DVI -
but most likely HDMI. When using a
DVI-DVI or
DVI-HDMI cable
solution, you will ALSO need to purchase/use 2
audio cables for your
audio channels.
